About the role

The organization is looking to hire an Accountant who will deliver professional accounting and finance support, ensuring accurate financial management and reporting. This role, reporting to the Finance Manager, is crucial in maintaining the accuracy and reliability of the organisation’s financial data.

Duties and Resposnponsibilities

·Assist in the preparation of Management Information reports, including the balance sheet, statement of profit and loss, and financial indicators such as yield and cost.

·Continuously monitor and analyze the balance sheet, profit and loss, and cash flow statements, preparing financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

·Support in the preparation of trial balances and review all assets, liability, expense, income, and general ledger accounts.

·Prepare projected monthly, quarterly, and annual budget targets, conduct variance analysis, and provide commentary on financial figures.

·Handle accounting for daily receipts and payments, ensuring accurate bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and employee expense reimbursements.

·Assist the tax accountant by providing necessary tax documentation, maintaining records, performing reconciliations, and filing with government authorities on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

·Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, calculate depreciation, and record the same.

·Prepare accounting entries, support compliance-based auditing, produce accounting information, maintain records, generate compliance reports, and conduct analysis.

·Collaborate with external accountants and statutory auditors to resolve financial year-end matters.

·Coordinate with the finance team and reporting staff to ensure internal financial controls are in place, and proper procedures are followed for accounting and bookkeeping of revenue, costs, income, and expenditures.

·Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.

·Support the senior accountant in posting month-end journals in the accounting software for accrued expenses, deferred income, accrued unbilled revenue, prepayments, and reversal of prior month accruals.

·Implement and administer the organization’s accounting information systems.

·Assist with weekly cash flow forecasting and funds management to ensure sufficient funds for all financial obligations.

·Support external tax accountants in preparing quarterly and year-end company income tax returns and calculating year-end tax liabilities.

·Post monthly journals for payroll costs, employee superannuation and withholding tax, salary sacrifice, commissions, and employee termination payments.

·Stay updated with technological advancements and self-train to adapt to changes for improvement.

·Perform other duties as assigned by the Group Financial Controller.

·Mentor junior accounting staff.

·Assist with annual audits and collaborate closely with statutory auditors.

·Reconcile vendor account statements with books of accounts and follow up to resolve discrepancies.

·Keep up to date with the annual NDIS rate cards to ensure sector claims align with government-released rates.

General

·Maintain strict confidentiality of employees, companies, and client information.

·Assist the Business Manager with other activities and projects as required.

·Act in accordance with the We Care NSW Values Charter and Code of Conduct, ensuring work reflects the values of cultural respect.

Work, Health, and Safety

Skills and RequirementsEssential:

·Current, clear NSW Working with Children Check

·NDIS Worker Screening clearance

·Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting, preferably within the disability sector

·Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

Selection Criteria:

·Proven experience in accounting and financial management

·Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively

·Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word

·High attention to detail and accuracy in data recording

·Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team

·Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing priorities in a dynamic environment

·Willingness to learn new processes and adopt emerging technologies
