About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Accountant to join a diversified Australian business group operating across manufacturing, industrial supplies, wholesale distribution, and retail sectors. This is a key full-time permanent position suited to a motivated finance professional with strong expertise across both financial and management accounting, group reporting, consolidations, tax compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and operational finance. Based in Brisbane, the role will involve regular weekly travel between business operations in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and New South Wales. This opportunity offers exposure to a dynamic multi-entity environment and the chance to work closely with senior management across multiple operating businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare consolidated financial statements across multiple business entities
- Manage monthly management reporting, variance analysis, and financial reporting
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting processes
- Oversee group tax compliance including BAS, FBT, payroll tax, and statutory reporting
- Monitor costing, margins, inventory, and Work In Progress (WIP)
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and consolidation adjustments
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain strong financial controls and compliance with Australian Accounting Standards
- Provide commercial analysis and recommendations to improve operational performance
- Liaise with operational managers, auditors, suppliers, and external stakeholders
- Assist in driving process improvement initiatives across finance and reporting functions
- Support payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions where required
Skills & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- CPA or CA qualified or working towards completion
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a senior accounting role within a multi-entity or group structure
- Strong experience in:
- Financial and management accounting
- Group reporting and consolidations
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Cost accounting and inventory analysis
- Group tax and statutory compliance
- Intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Previous experience within manufacturing, industrial, wholesale, or distribution environments highly regarded
- Extensive ERP experience essential — Pronto ERP experience highly desirable
- Experience with MYOB, BrightHR, Cognos, or similar reporting systems advantageous
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities across multiple business locations
- Willingness to travel regularly between Queensland and NSW operations
