Road Network Operations and Traffic

The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure is seeking motivated technical professionals across multiple levels to support the operation, maintenance and improvement of traffic signals and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) across the Northern Territory road network.

These roles sit within the Road Network Operations and Traffic unit and offer the opportunity to work on essential infrastructure that supports safe, efficient and reliable transport for communities across urban, regional and remote locations.

Whether you are an experienced project manager or looking to build your career in traffic systems and infrastructure, these positions offer hands on technical work, exposure to emerging technologies and the chance to contribute to Territory wide outcomes.

About the Role

Working as part of a small, highly skilled and dynamic team, you will be involved in the delivery and support of traffic signal and ITS assets, including:

  1. Repairs and maintenance and upgrade programs
  2. Traffic signal coordination for major disruptions and community events
  3. Pilot programs for new and emerging traffic technologies

At the T3 level, you will provide hands on technical and project support while developing core skills in traffic systems and infrastructure delivery.

At the T4 level, you will manage projects under direction, contribute technical expertise and coordinate contractors and works.

At the T5 level, you will lead projects, provide specialist technical advice and supervise allocated technical staff.

All roles contribute to a 24hour roster emergency response capability for the Territory road network through an on call roster.

About You

You are someone who enjoys working in a technical, operational environment and takes pride in delivering infrastructure that has a real impact on communities.

Depending on level, you may bring:

  1. Experience in traffic signals, ITS, electrical or technical infrastructure environments
  2. Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
  3. The ability to work collaboratively in a small team
  4. Confidence working with contractors, stakeholders and internal partners
  5. An interest in current and emerging traffic and transport technologies
