Billy Chow offers a sophisticated yet relaxed coastal dining experience on the Gold Coast. Known for its contemporary Pan-Asian cuisine, the restaurant features a share-style menu with handmade bao buns and dumplings, fresh seafood, and bold, flavour-driven dishes crafted from high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. Each dish is thoughtfully curated to deliver a memorable dining experience that celebrates vibrant flavours and coastal influences.
We are looking for a Chef to join the team! In this role, you will ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen, maintain consistent preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes, and contribute to the overall success of the restaurant. This is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week based in Coolangatta QLD.
Main tasks:
- Creating and updating menus that offer a variety of dishes, considering seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Planning, preparing and producing a wide range of menu items.
- Overseeing the preparation and cooking of food, ensuring it meets high standards of quality and presentation, maintaining consistency in taste, portion size, and presentation of dishes.
- Assembling and preparing ingredients for menu items in a way that enables cooks to learn on the techniques required for the preparation of each food item.
- Sourcing, ordering, and managing inventory of ingredients, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste.
- Supervising kitchen staff, delegating tasks, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations, especially during peak hours.
- Ensuring that all food preparation areas and kitchen equipment meet health and safety regulations, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Training new kitchen staff, providing ongoing development for the team, and maintaining high morale.
- Liaising with other staff members (both kitchen, floor and management) as means to work cooperatively with them to ensure that operations move smoothly.
Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:
- Minimum of a Relevant Certificate IV / Diploma, and at least 1 year’ relevant experience within the past 5 years; - 3 years’ relevant experience may substitute the formal/relevant qualifications listed above.
Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong cooking skills and overall culinary repertoire.
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to multitask and effectively manage competing priorities.
Annual salary will be between $76,515.00 to $80,000.00 (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
