Key Responsibilities:
- Developing menu items and collaborating with the manager to manage costs and expenses.
- Preparing, cooking, and presenting food and ensuring the dishes are of the highest quality and are cooked according to set menus
- Elevate the flavor profile of our dishes by skillfully seasoning during various stages of the cooking process.
- Collaborate with the team to contribute to menu planning and provide valuable input into estimating food requirements based on anticipated demand.
- Creating and managing menus, and developing new dishes and recipes
- Supervising kitchen personnel and coordinating efforts to fulfill restaurant needs.
- Conducting inventory checks in the kitchen and placing supply orders as needed.
- Estimating restaurant expenses encompassing food, labor, and miscellaneous items.
- Overseeing food preparation to maintain consistently high standards.
- Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and updating policies regularly as needed.
- Providing guidance and training to kitchen staff and apprentices, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Passion for creating delicious and high-quality food.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Diploma/Certificate III/IV in cookery or equivalent
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role
