Position: Chef
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining our food quality standards and contributing to menu development.
Some of the duties and responsibilities are:
- Plan menus, including seasonal updates, and daily specials.
- Estimate food and labour costs and support effective cost control measures
- Order food supplies and manage stock levels to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Prepare and cook a variety of traditional and contemporary pizzas to a consistently high standard
- Prepare breakfast, brunch, and specialty menu items in line with established quality standards
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, including HACCP principles
- Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and organisation at all times
- Discuss food preparation and operational issues with management, kitchen staff, and front-of-house teams as required
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance on preparation procedures where needed
- Support smooth kitchen operations during busy service periods, including lunch and dinner services
- Train, mentor, and support junior kitchen staff to develop team capability and performance
- Assist in freezing and preserving food items in accordance with food safety standards
- Collaborate effectively with directors, front-of-house staff, and the wider team to ensure excellent service delivery
- Assist with stock control and minimising food wastage
About You
- Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., Certificate III in Commercial Cookery)
- Minimum 1-year commercial kitchen experience
- A hands-on leader who leads by example in day-to-day operations
- Calm, level-headed, and solution-focused, with the ability to remain professional under pressure
- Resilient and composed, with the ability to handle challenges without becoming unsettled by minor issues
- Reliable, punctual, well-organised, and a positive leader
