We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team and contribute to our continued success in delivering outstanding Indian cuisine to our community.

Role Overview

As a Chef at Tamarind Modern Indian, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality Indian dishes while ensuring consistency in flavour, presentation, and overall quality. You will work closely with the kitchen team to develop menu items, create seasonal specials, and maintain smooth operations during peak service periods.This role is ideal for a passionate and creative chef who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to excellence and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and present a wide range of authentic Indian dishes with consistency in taste, quality, and presentation.
  2. Collaborate with the team on menu development, including seasonal menus, daily specials, and event-based offerings.
  3. Plan menus strategically, balancing customer preferences, seasonal availability, cost efficiency, and innovation.
  4. Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness at all times.
  5. Ensure portion control, plating standards, and efficient kitchen operations.
  6. Supervise, train, and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
  7. Manage inventory, stock ordering, and kitchen workflow to minimise waste and maximise efficiency.
  8. Assist with catering, private functions, and special events as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience as a Chef in a busy commercial kitchen.
  3. Strong background in Indian cuisine is highly desirable; however, skilled chefs with a passion to learn are encouraged to apply.
  4. Excellent knowledge of modern cooking techniques, spice blending, and menu development.
  5. Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards.
  6. Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
