The service delivers high-quality early years education and childcare programs in accordance with the National Quality Framework (NQF), the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF).
About the Role
The successful candidate will work under the general direction of the Children’s Services Domain Manager/Assistant Director and/or Educational Leader to provide high-quality care, supervision and educational support to children, in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF – Belonging, Being and Becoming), the National Quality Standard (NQS), and service policies and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
·Provide attentive supervision of children at all times to ensure their safety, security and wellbeing, both indoors and outdoors
·Help prepare and conduct children's activities, including provision of food, drinks, toileting, nappy changing, dressing, hygiene and personal care
·Bathe, dress, feed and supervise the rest of young children in line with established routines and parental requirements
·Plan, prepare and conduct play-based learning experiences that stimulate children's intellectual, physical, social, emotional, language and creative development
·Promote language development through storytelling, role play, songs, rhymes and informal conversations
·Observe, document and record children's behaviour, interests, abilities and developmental progress
·Comfort distressed children and support the development of emotional regulation, self-help and social skills
·Maintain a safe, clean, hygienic and stimulating environment in all rooms, play spaces and outdoor areas
·Administer basic first aid and prescribed medication where authorised, in line with centre policies
·Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues
·Comply with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, the National Quality Standard, the Child Safe Standards, and the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics
·Participate in staff meetings, professional development, team planning and quality improvement activities
Essential Requirements
·Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent approved qualification)
·At least one (1) year of relevant work experience in a similar role
·Current Working with Children Check
·Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis qualifications
·Knowledge of the National Quality Framework and VEYLDF
·Strong communication and teamwork skills
·Passion for supporting children's learning and wellbeing
Desirable
·Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or higher)
·Previous experience in a community-based early years education and childcare service, kindergarten, Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) or family day care in Australia.
·Bilingual or multilingual skills relevant to the centre's community
·Experience supporting children with additional needs or from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
