About the Role
BAMS (BAMS Est. 1990 Pty Ltd) is seeking an experienced full-time Construction Estimator to join our team based in Narellan, New South Wales 2567.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and commercially viable estimates for residential and commercial construction projects.
The role involves reviewing project documentation, preparing detailed cost estimates, obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing, and supporting project handovers.
What You'll Be Doing
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential and commercial construction projects, taking into account materials, labour, equipment, subcontractor costs, and project delivery requirements
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and other project documentation
- Prepare quantity take-offs, bills of quantities, tender submissions, and pricing breakdowns
- Liaise with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing information
- Identify scope gaps, cost risks, and potential cost-saving opportunities
- Assist with variations, budget estimates, procurement schedules, and tender clarifications
- Prepare estimating reports and present pricing information to clients and stakeholders
- Support project handovers by providing accurate scope and pricing details
- Monitor industry trends, material pricing, regulations, and construction requirements
- Maintain estimating records, supplier pricing information, and historical cost data
- Provide support and guidance to junior estimating team members
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Advanced Diploma in Construction or Building Estimation, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field required. Bachelor's degree qualifications in a similar field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of industry experience in estimating required. 3+ years of experience in quantity surveying or construction take-offs highly regarded.
- Proven track record of preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for a variety of residential and commercial construction projects, including carpentry and joinery-focused overhauls and fitouts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential cost risks.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly present pricing and budgeting information to clients and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Procore or similar estimating and BIM-based take-off software.
- Experience using civil drafting software, Cabinet Vision, and ********** highly regarded.
