Job Descriptions
- Adhere to the food safety standards and occupational health & safety rules and regulations.
- Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
- Prepare, season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
- Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Coordinates, supervises and collaborates with kitchen staff in food preparation and cooking.
- Bake, roast, boil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
- Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
- Examine foodstuffs to ensure quality.
- Store food in temperature-controlled facilities.
- Portion food, place it on plates, and add gravies, sauces and garnishes.
- Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements.
- Assists senior team in development of new recipes and menu items for specials.
- Estimate expected food consumption; then requisition or purchase supplies or procure food from storage.
Skill and Qualification
- Minimum Completion of Certificate III in Commerical Cookery or Equivalent Experince or Qualification.
- Minimum of 1 year of work experince is required.
- Ability to work unsupervised and in a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience in Indian Cuisine is Preferable.
