We are currently seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced Cook to become part of our kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-paced environment where meals are prepared fresh daily, high-quality standards are maintained, and strong attention to detail is highly valued.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, organize, and coordinate daily food preparation and cooking activities to support efficient kitchen operations and timely service.
  2. Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes in line with menu requirements, recipes, and customer orders.
  3. Portion, season, and cook food using various methods including grilling, frying, roasting, baking, steaming, and sautéing.
  4. Assist with menu planning and contribute ideas for recipes, specials, and food presentation.
  5. Monitor food quality during preparation and service to ensure consistency, freshness, and presentation standards.
  6. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, storage areas, and food preparation areas.
  7. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health & safety procedures.
  8. Check stock levels, rotate stock, store ingredients properly, and report ordering requirements.
  9. Receive, inspect, and store deliveries to ensure quality and freshness standards are met.
  10. Supervise and guide kitchen assistants or junior staff during preparation and service when required.
  11. Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
  12. Assist with portion control, proper storage, and waste minimization to support food cost control.
  13. Respond promptly to kitchen operational issues to maintain smooth workflow during busy service periods.
  14. Perform other duties consistent with the role of Cook.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 1 year of full-time relevant experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen or similar hospitality environment.
  2. Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher relevant qualification in Culinary Arts or Kitchen Management.
  3. Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen operations.
  4. Strong understanding of food hygiene standards, food safety regulations, and workplace health & safety (WHS) requirements.
  5. Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining quality and consistency.
  6. Well-developed skills in food preparation, presentation, portion control, and maintaining recipe standards.
  7. Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet service deadlines.
  8. Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate smoothly with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
  9. Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and performance while working under pressure and managing multiple tasks.
