Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic Indian dishes including curries, tandoori items, breads, and rice dishes as per menu standards
- Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control across all meals
- Assist in preparation of ingredients including marination, spice blends, sauces, and gravies
- Operate and manage tandoor cooking where required
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and safety at all times
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise food wastage
- Contribute to menu planning, specials, and new dish development
- Supervise and support junior kitchen staff when required
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety and food safety regulations
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification)
- Diploma in Hospitality Management (desirable)
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a commercial kitchen
- Experience in Indian cuisine, particularly tandoori and curry preparation, is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and HACCP practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Good communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
- Passion for authentic cooking and attention to detail
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
