A Maiorana & Sons Pty Ltd is seeking suitably qualified and experienced full-time employees for fishing industry positions based in Ulladulla, New South Wales.

Established fishing operations working in Australian waters seek applications for the following full-time fishing industry positions:

·Ship’s Master

·Ship’s Engineer (Fishing Industry)

·Master Fisher

·Ship’s Officer

·Deck Hand

·Fishing Hand

Applicants must clearly state which position they are applying for.

These positions are based in Ulladulla, NSW 2539, however employees may be required to work in other locations subject to operational requirements.

With regard to the following positions:

Ship’s Master

Ship’s Engineer (Fishing Industry)

Master Fisher

Ship’s Officer

Successful candidates should ideally have at least 5 years of relevant experience in this industry sector for ranked positions. Experience of less than 5 years may be considered depending on the applicant’s overall experience and suitability. Applicants must hold the appropriate and valid qualification to be considered.

Deck Hand and Fishing Hand

Applicants for Deck Hand and Fishing Hand positions should have at least 1 year of relevant Australian work experience, preferably in commercial fishing operations, evidenced by sea-time records, log books, or other verifiable records. Verifiable letters of reference may also be accepted.

For all positions, applicants must provide verifiable references. Applicants must be physically fit, as these positions involve demanding work, often in difficult marine environments. Ranked positions may include responsibility for supervising fishing operations, vessel operations, onboard safety, engineering functions, and crew management.

Employees may be away from home for several days or, at times, several weeks, depending on operational requirements. Turnaround periods may be short before returning to sea.

Annual salary for full-time employees for the relevant occupation will be as follows:

  1. Ship’s Master: $120,000 per annum or greater, subject to negotiation
  2. Ship’s Engineer (Fishing Industry): $72,000 to $82,000 per annum
  3. Master Fisher: $75,000 to $82,000 per annum
  4. Ship’s Officer: $72,000 to $82,000 per annum
  5. Deck Hand and Fishing Hand: $70,000 to in excess of $78,000 per annum

All the above occupations are plus superannuation and any other applicable entitlements.

In all cases, remuneration will be commensurate with skills, experience and operational requirements.
