Situated just 5kms (NE) of Margaret River township, Margaret River Hideaway & Farmstay is a premier destination offering guests a unique rural experience. We pride ourselves on maintaining a high-quality, safe, and beautiful environment for our guests and livestock.
We are looking for a Handyman & Maintenance Officer to join the team! In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end maintenance, repair, and presentation of the property’s facilities, grounds, farm infrastructure, and machinery assets to ensure a safe, functional, and high-quality guest experience. This is a hands-on role that requires a mix of trade skills, farm maintenance knowledge, and organisational ability.
This is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week based in Margaret River, WA.
Main tasks:
Property & Farm Maintenance
-Maintaining farm enclosures, fencing, irrigation systems, and paddocks.
-Conducting general repairs to cottages, sheds, and guest facilities.
-Performing minor carpentry, plumbing, painting, and mechanical tasks.
-Overseeing the maintenance and servicing of all vehicles, farm machinery, and equipment, including keeping accurate logbooks and records.
Grounds & Presentation
-Maintaining the presentation and functionality of all guest-facing areas.
-Clearing and maintaining driveways, pathways, and cottage frontages.
-Carrying out lawn care, gardening, pruning, mulching, and weed control.
-Trimming trees and managing vegetation.
-Managing leaf matter and debris in accordance with local fire regulations.
Asset Management & Planning
-Conducting comprehensive audits of all tools, machinery, and equipment.
-Performing regular inspections of all guest cottages to identify repair or upgrade needs.
-Developing and implementing proactive maintenance schedules for cottages and farm assets.
-Recommending improvements to furnishings, fixtures, and equipment to ensure a high standard of guest comfort.
Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:
-Minimum of a Certificate I plus minimum 1 year’ relevant work experience in the last 5 years.
Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:
-Able to manage your time effectively and show up ready to work.
-Comfortable figuring out solutions when unexpected issues arise.
-Detail-oriented and takes pride in the appearance of the property, ensuring tasks are finished to a high standard.
-Happy to work independently, manage your own schedule, and keep busy without needing constant supervision.
-Polite and helpful, especially when working in areas where guests may be present.
-Adaptable and happy to switch between different types of tasks, from gardening and cleaning to fixing a repair, as the day requires.
Annual salary will be between $65,000.00 to $75,000.00 (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
