Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Operate heavy vehicles with a carrying capacity exceeding three tonnes to transport and deliver goods and materials across local, regional and interstate routes.
  2. Work in remote areas and undertake long-distance driving assignments to ensure deliveries are completed efficiently and on time.
  3. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to confirm roadworthiness, identify defects and report maintenance issues as required.
  4. Load and unload cargo safely, including completing multiple delivery drops as part of assigned routes.
  5. Restrain and secure loads in accordance with the Heavy Vehicle Load Restraint Guide to ensure safe transport.
  6. Obtain proof of delivery and return all relevant paperwork to the office accurately and within required timeframes.
  7. Maintain delivery records, run sheets, work diaries and logbooks in accordance with State and Federal transport regulations.
  8. Communicate with dispatchers, supervisors or base staff by radio or telephone to receive instructions and coordinate delivery schedules.
  9. Accept and respond to new delivery instructions or route changes as directed by the dispatcher or supervisor.
  10. Report incidents, delays, hazards or vehicle issues encountered during transit in line with company procedures.
  11. Follow accident and emergency procedures where required and report all relevant details promptly.
  12. Refuel, clean and carry out routine upkeep of the truck and associated equipment to maintain it in a clean and serviceable condition.
  13. Keep records of goods and materials transported, delivery activities and vehicle usage for operational and compliance purposes.
  14. Plan delivery routes using maps, GPS and satellite tracking systems to improve efficiency and meet operational requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. AQF certificate II or III
  2. Valid Australian MC truck licence
  3. Minimum of 1 year’s recent heavy/multi-combination driving experience
  4. Able to work with, maintain and carry out general repairs and maintenance on pumps, metres and related equipment
  5. Demonstrate sound geographic knowledge Australia-wide
  6. Be highly reliable with a first-class approach to safety and customer service with good communication skills
  7. Fatigue Management Certificate
  8. Able to pass a drug and alcohol and pre-employment medical
  9. MSIC Card
  10. Load restraint certificate
  11. Require DG Licence or willing to obtain
  12. Dogs and chain experience
  13. Side and End Tipper experience
  14. BFM certificate is required or willing to obtain
  15. Forklift ticket is required or willing to obtain
