Location: Australia

Salary: AUS$141,000 + Overtime (frequent, paid at premium rates) + Tools + PPE + Superannuation

Employment Type: Permanent / Full-Time (with standby/call-out rotation)

Due to continued growth in grid upgrades and renewable energy schemes, we are seeking experienced High Voltage Cable Jointers authorised up to 33 kV (training to 66 kV – 550 kV available).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform high-voltage cable jointing, splicing, and terminations on underground cables (33 kV & 66 kV- 550 kV, including XLPE, PILC, EPR, and consular cables)
  2. Install, connect, and terminate HV power cables in substations, wind farms, commercial/industrial sites, and distribution networks
  3. Conduct fault location, diagnostics, and repairs on HV cable systems
  4. Carry out pre- and post-jointing testing, including insulation resistance, continuity, phasing, phase rotation, sheath/pressure testing, VLF, and PD testing
  5. Interpret cable diagrams, phasing colours, and network specifications
  6. Complete risk assessments, method statements, and maintain strict adherence to health & safety regulations (including confined spaces and live working where authorised)
  7. Update cable records, diagrams, and job closure reports
  8. Liaise with clients, site requirements
  9. Participate in standby/call-out rotation for emergency fault response
  10. Work in confined spaces, at height, offshore (where required), and in all weather conditions

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as an HV Cable Jointer 10 years +
  2. Relevant qualifications
  3. Full Australian driving licence
  4. White card, Confined Spaces, First Aid
  5. Strong knowledge of HV safety rules, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent problem-solving skills
  7. Flexibility for travel, overnight stays, and overtime

Desirable: Experience with offshore wind, subsea cables, or 66 kV – 550 kV systems; manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Pfisterer, Nexans, Tyco/Raychem).
