About the Role
Broom Caretakers is seeking a full-time Landscape Gardener to support the maintenance and presentation of residential and commercial properties across Melbourne.
This role involves hands-on gardening and landscaping work, ensuring outdoor areas are maintained to a high standard while contributing to overall client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular garden maintenance including mowing, edging, trimming, and pruning
- Maintain lawns, garden beds, hedges, and landscaped areas
- Prepare seedbeds and growing sites for planting
- Plant and maintain trees, bushes, hedges, flowers, and bulbs
- Prepare lawn areas by spreading topsoil, planting grass, and laying instant turf
- Identify and remove weeds using appropriate methods (chemical or manual)
- Operate gardening equipment such as mowers, line trimmers, blowers, and hedge trimmers
- Assist with mulching and general landscaping improvements
- Design, install, test, maintain, and repair irrigation systems
- Monitor plant health and report any issues or required works
- Ensure outdoor areas are clean, safe, and well-presented
- Work collaboratively with caretakers and other team members
- Follow safety procedures and company standards at all times
Skills and Experience Required
- Relevant qualification in Horticulture, Landscaping, or related field (preferred but not essential)
- At least 1–2 years of experience in gardening or landscaping
- Experience with irrigation systems (installation and maintenance) is highly desirable
- Ability to safely operate gardening equipment and tools
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
- Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of plant care, weed control, soil preparation, and seasonal maintenance
