Detector Inspector Essential Services is currently looking to invest in an experienced full-time Mechanical Engineer (internally known as a Technical Engineer) to join our dynamic team. We are looking for someone who has strong skills, can assist with after hours call outs, who doesn’t mind working on their own or with others from time to time, has initiative and is open to continually learning about the Industry and key technology.

The role:

Working as part of the fire safety system maintenance team, you will inspect, test, and maintain fire protection equipment such as fire indicator panels, smoke detectors, and alarm systems.

You will prepare and update zone block plans and technical drawings, which require an understanding of building layouts and fire protection system design. A Mechanical Engineering background is required because you will be involved in technical analysis, system functionality, safety compliance, and interpreting engineering drawings and building standards.

What you will bring to the role:

  1. Demonstrated experience commissioning Fire Indicator Panels (FIP’s) and associated systems is preferred
  2. Extensive trouble shooting experience on FIP’s and associated systems
  3. An interest to continue learning about fire panels and fire systems, and to train others.
  4. Reporting on your activities, compliance issues and health & safety matters.
  5. Ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
  6. Reliable, self-motivated, and well presented.
  7. Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Strong commitment to safe work practices is essential.
  9. Current valid driver’s licence.
