Mechanical Engineering Technician

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to support the operation, technical performance, and continuous improvement of high-speed aerosol and liquid filling production systems within a 24-hour manufacturing environment.
This role provides technical support to production and maintenance functions, assisting in the monitoring, diagnosis, optimisation, and documentation of mechanical and pneumatic systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation.
You will work closely with Mechanical Engineers, maintenance personnel, and production teams to support equipment performance, investigate faults, contribute to improvement initiatives, and ensure adherence to GMP, WHS, and engineering standards.
This role is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production systems. You will play a key part in supporting engineering-led improvements, reducing downtime, improving equipment performance, and maintaining compliance with quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
·Operate, maintain and troubleshoot aerosol and liquid filling equipment to ensure efficient production performance and minimal downtime.
·Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical and pneumatic systems, including fault diagnosis, repairs and equipment overhauls.
·Assist with the design, modification, installation and commissioning of production machinery and mechanical equipment in collaboration with Mechanical Engineers.
·Prepare and interpret technical drawings, specifications, machine settings and maintenance documentation to support engineering and production activities.
·Assemble, install and test mechanical components, machine tools and pneumatic systems to ensure compliance with operational and quality standards.
·Monitor production equipment performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing rejects and improving line efficiency.
·Participate in engineering project work, machine changeovers, new product development trials and on-site equipment installations.
· Train production staff and line setters on equipment operation, changeover procedures, safety requirements and standard operating procedures while maintaining accurate technical and production records.
About You
•Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
•Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment involving mechanical systems
•Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatic systems, and production equipment operation
•Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and engineering documentation
•Experience supporting troubleshooting, maintenance coordination, or reliability improvement activities
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause identification
•Knowledge of GMP, WHS, and industrial safety standards
•Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate technical records
•Ability to work in a fast-paced 24-hour production environment with shift flexibility
•Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with engineers and operational teams
