Mechanical Fitter

1. Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine job requirements
2. Assembling fabricated metal parts and components into machinery and equipment
3. Installing, aligning, and commissioning mechanical systems and production equipment
4. Diagnosing faults and performing repairs on mechanical systems, including pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and hydraulic equipment
5. Conducting routine maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimise downtime
6. Using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments to carry out fitting and assembly tasks
7. Dismantling faulty machinery and replacing or repairing defective parts
8. Performing testing and adjustments to ensure machinery operates efficiently and safely
9. Ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with Australian Standards, company procedures, and WHS regulations
10. Liaising with supervisors, engineers, and other tradespersons to coordinate work activities
11. Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting on completed work

Skills and Experience Requirements

1. Relevant trade qualification (e.g. Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent)
2. At least 1-2 years of relevant post-qualification work experience
3. Demonstrated experience in mechanical fitting within a fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environment
4. Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
5. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
6. Good communication and teamwork abilities
