CONAN CIVIL PTY. LTD. is seeking a qualified and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Adviser to join our team. This position plays a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining workplace health, safety, and environmental systems to ensure compliance and promote a safe working environment.
Position Overview
The Occupational Health and Safety Adviser is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating risk management policies and programs. The role includes training employees in occupational health and safety procedures, monitoring and auditing workplace practices, and recording and investigating incidents to maintain safe and healthy working conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and review environmental health management plans and occupational health and safety plans
- Prepare and implement strategies for the safe, economical, and compliant disposal of commercial, industrial, medical, and household waste
- Provide advice on and ensure compliance with relevant legislation relating to health, safety, and environmental standards
- Identify workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments, implementing appropriate control measures
- Develop and monitor programs aimed at minimising workplace and environmental pollution
- Promote ergonomic practices to improve employee wellbeing and productivity
- Conduct inspections and audits of workplaces, processes, plant, and equipment for compliance
- Deliver training on personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work procedures
- Record, investigate, and report on workplace incidents, injuries, and equipment damage
- Monitor and report on overall safety performance
- Coordinate and support return-to-work programs for injured employees
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation
- Proven experience in risk management and safety program implementation
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
