As an ASA 5 Security Advisor, you will proactively deliver a wide range of physical and protective security activities within the Physical Security team, supporting the Agency’s obligations under the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and the Defence Security Policy Framework (DSPF).

Under broad direction, you will interpret and apply relevant legislation and policy, provide specialist protective security advice, and work closely with ASA personnel and stakeholders to identify, manage and mitigate security risks. Your work will directly contribute to safeguarding ASA’s people, property, information and reputation. Security is a critical enabler to the Nuclear Powered Submarine (NPS) program and in this role you will use your initiative and judgement to find solutions and think critically on unique situations.

Key Duties:

  1. Provide operational protective security advice to ASA staff and other stakeholders to enable the achievement of appropriate physical security controls.
  2. Identify and assess security risks within the ASA environment and provide actionable advice on protective security controls and mitigation's.
  3. Contribute to the delivery and management of physical security measures for ASA's national facilities.
  4. Routine management of security systems, locks and security containers.
  5. Assisting with the development of guidelines, standard operating procedures and other relevant documentation to meet ASA’s physical security objectives.
  6. Build and sustain productive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders to achieve protective security outcomes.
  7. Translate complex information into clear, audience appropriate messages by adjusting language and detail to match varying levels of knowledge, skills and experience.
  8. Supporting a robust security culture across the ASA workforce, in alignment with the Nuclear Mindset.
