About the Opportunity:

John Paul College is seeking a compassionate and collaborative Registered Nurse to join our Boarding team in a part time role, working Thursdays and Fridays during term time (7:00am – 12:00pm).

John Paul College is a vibrant and inclusive educational community. Since 2015, our Boarding Village has offered a unique, village-style environment that supports the holistic growth and wellbeing of our domestic and international boarding students.

As part of a recent review of our Boarding and Homestay programs, we are pleased to offer this opportunity for a Nurse to provide professional health care and first aid support within our dynamic Boarding Village and Homestay programs. This role works in close consultation with another Senior Boarding Nurse, ensuring consistent care and oversight across the week.

About the Role:

Based at the JPC Boarding Village, this role provides health and medical oversight for our Boarding and Homestay students. The specifics of this role include:

  • Term-time availability, Thursdays and Fridays from 7:00am to 12:00pm (10 hours per week)
  • Additional hours may be required from time to time and will be remunerated accordingly
  • A current open driver's licence is required to support students attending medical appointments; College vehicles are available for this purpose

Key Responsibilities:

As a key member of the Health and Boarding teams, the Boarding Nurse will:

  • Deliver primary health care, first aid, and emergency care to Boarding and Homestay students
  • Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in line with relevant legislation and College policies
  • Liaise with staff, students, parents, and medical professionals to ensure the health and wellbeing of all Boarding and Homestay students
  • Provide health guidance and training to boarding staff and support the implementation of student care plans
  • Contribute to a safe and supportive living and learning environment by promoting wellness and healthy lifestyle practices

About You:

You are a Registered Nurse with a genuine interest in adolescent health and wellbeing, excellent interpersonal skills, and a desire to support young people in a boarding school environment.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • Experience or interest in paediatric and/or adolescent health care
  • Training in anaphylaxis and asthma management
  • A collaborative, professional and compassionate approach
  • Proficient communication and basic administrative/computer skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • A willingness to support the mission and values of John Paul College
