Overview:

We are looking for a Site Engineer (Civil Engineering Technician) to join the team! In this role, you will be responsible to support the delivery of civil construction projects by providing technical, operational, and compliance support to the project and management teams. This is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week, based in Saint Peters, NSW.

Main tasks:

-Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documentation to ensure all project works align with client requirements and regulatory standards.

-Provide technical support to project managers and supervisors in planning and coordinating project activities, including site establishment, mobilisation, and resource allocation.

-Monitor day-to-day construction activities on-site to ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved plans, timelines, and quality expectations.

-Conduct site inspections and collect field data to verify construction progress, identify issues, and support timely decision-making.

-Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, registers, and correspondence, ensuring accurate record-keeping for operational and compliance purposes.

-Track project progress against schedules and budgets, identifying delays, cost variations, and risks, and reporting these to management.

-Identify and document variations to scope of works, assisting in the preparation of variation claims and supporting documentation for client approval.

-Support cost control and financial performance of projects by monitoring material usage, reviewing costs, and assisting in budget tracking and forecasting.

-Assist with procurement processes, including reviewing supplier quotations, preparing purchase orders, and coordinating subcontractor engagement.

-Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication, timely issue resolution, and alignment with project deliverables.

-Assist in contract administration tasks, including preparation and verification of progress claims, invoices, and supporting documentation.

-Support the implementation and monitoring of Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, including risk assessments, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and site safety compliance.

-Contribute to environmental management practices by assisting in monitoring and reporting in line with project environmental management plans.

-Assist in quality assurance processes, including conducting inspections, managing non-conformances, and ensuring compliance with Quality Management Plans (QMP) and Inspection Test Plans (ITP).

-Maintain project compliance records, including hold points, testing results, subcontractor performance, and project close-out documentation to meet audit and regulatory requirements.

Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:

-Relevant Engineering Diploma or higher plus minimum 1 year’ industry experience in the last 5 years.

-3 years’ industry experience may substitute the formal qualification.

Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:

-Strong understanding of construction methods and engineering principles

-Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

-Problem-solving and decision-making skills

-Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

-Time management and organizational skills

-Knowledge of health and safety regulations

-Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project)

Annual salary will be between $76,515.00 to $85,000.00 (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
