Launceston Community Legal Centre has been providing free legal advice and assistance to communities across Northern and North East Tasmania for almost 40 years. As a well established generalist community legal service, the Centre supports individuals experiencing financial hardship, social disadvantage, or barriers to accessing legal assistance.
With a small dedicated team of 11 staff, LCLC has built a strong reputation across the Tasmanian legal sector as a supportive and collaborative workplace. As a small organisation, team members work closely together and contribute across a range of activities that support the Centre’s work in the community. Shape Legal Outcomes That Make a Real Difference
Launceston Community Legal Centre is looking for a full time Solicitor based in Launceston, Tasmania.
Reporting to the Principal Solicitor, you will deliver generalist community legal services while helping clients understand their legal issues and identify practical pathways toward resolution. The role focuses strongly on early intervention, empowering clients to navigate their legal options, and resolving issues wherever possible before they escalate.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
You will work across a broad range of legal matters in a generalist practice, giving you exposure to diverse legal issues while developing strong problem-solving, research, and client advisory skills. This role offers an excellent opportunity for lawyers who enjoy varied legal work and want to build practical expertise while contributing to meaningful community outcomes.
Bring Your Legal Skills and Community Mindset
To qualify, you will need to be admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia and hold or be eligible to hold a Tasmanian practising certificate. Ideally, you will bring a minimum of two years of post-admission experience. We also welcome expressions of interest from graduate or early career lawyers who are passionate about community legal services and would like to be considered for future opportunities with LCLC.
