Key points we found

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team in a retail environment.
  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences while managing store operations.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Optus is one of Australia’s leading telecommunications providers, connecting more than 11 million customers every day across mobile, broadband and digital solutions.

We’re searching for an inspiring mentor and people focused Store Manager to lead our Newstead team. If you thrive on crafting high performing, energised teams, love building meaningful customer connections, and enjoy running a store like it’s your own business, then we’d love to hear from you.

We collaborate with purpose, lift each other up, take accountability, act with integrity, and celebrate as one team. Together, we learn, grow, tackle challenges and build genuine relationships with our customers and with each other. At Optus, you’ll feel connected to what truly matters, build your skills and expand your career growth. And as a store leader, you’ll be the key to success.

Your day to day:

  • Lead from the front, creating a positive, high-performance culture where your team feels supported, motivated and confident to shine every day.
  • Coach, mentor and develop your team, building capability and empowering them to deliver exceptional customer experiences, consistently and proudly.
  • Shape an energised, inclusive and customer first environment, that feels welcoming, genuine and inspiring for both customers and your team.
  • Bring Optus’ strategy to life in‑store by running smooth, efficient operations and continuously finding opportunities to uplift outcomes, performance and overall customer experience.
  • Address raised customer concerns with calm professionalism, modelling effective de‑escalation and guiding your team in resolving complex or sensitive situations.
  • Drive team engagement by celebrating wins, setting meaningful goals, fostering continuous learning, and strengthening collaboration across your store and the wider region.

What makes you perfect for the role?

  • Inspirational Leadership: You lead through your actions, beliefs and integrity by motivating those around you, building trust, and bringing your team together to achieve their best.
  • Customer First Approach: You’re passionate about creating memorable experiences and mentoring your team to put customers at the heart of every decision, interaction and solution.
  • Coaching & Development: You know how to coach, upskill and support your people through clear feedback, encouragement and meaningful goal setting, helping them grow with confidence.
  • Calm Under Pressure: You stay composed during difficult or reactive situations, model effective de‑escalation, and help your team handle customer challenges with care and professionalism.
  • Business & Operational Strength: You understand the drivers of high performance and balance strong people leadership with sound operational judgment to deliver great store results.
  • Team Spirit & Adaptability: You foster a workplace where everyone feels included, accountable and supported, staying solutions focused when priorities or customer needs shift.

The good stuff…

  • Competitive remuneration and exclusive access to unique discounts. Make life easier (and more affordable) with $80 monthly credit and 25% off Optus products and special shopping discounts with our retail and corporate partners.
  • Competitive leave policies, including additional 'Connected’ day to focus on culture, family, health, community, or whatever’s important to you.
  • We support growing families with inclusive, carer-neutral paid Parental Leave of up to 14 weeks.
  • Build future ready skills through Optus U, with industry micro credentials created alongside La Trobe and Macquarie Universities.
  • Build meaningful connections through employee-led networks and diversity initiatives including Culture Connect, Elevate Women, Yarn First Nations, Disability Network and Express Yourself (LGBTQIA+).
  • Put your wellbeing first with free access to counselling and support services, available 24/7 across multiple channels.

Curious but still unsure? That’s completely okay as we still encourage you to apply. We all learn, grow and develop together, and this role might be the perfect next step in your leadership journey.
