Join the Department for Child Protection as a Support Worker and help children and families to thrive. Our Limestone Coast Office has multiple full-time vacancies available on an ongoing and temporary basis.

Support Workers play a key role in supporting children, young people and families. In this rewarding role, you will work alongside experienced social workers to provide essential support, including supervising family contact and assisting families to access the services they need. You will also manage sensitive information with care and contribute to a compassionate and culturally aware environment.

In this role, you will:

  1. Sensitively handle requests for assistance from clients and prepare appropriate, client centred responses
  2. Support families to access services through assessment and referral to Social Workers or other agencies
  3. Supervise family contact and support intervention, access and family care plans
  4. Attend case discussions with DCP workers, supervisors and other relevant stakeholders
  5. Provide practical support to children and families, including facilitating programs and activities with cultural awareness and sensitivity
  6. Undertake administrative tasks including payment processing, fleet coordination and general office support.

You will be a resourceful and proactive individual who shows initiative and confidence in achieving daily objectives. You communicate clearly and work effectively within a team, engaging with a range of stakeholders in both written and verbal formats.

You bring an understanding of child development, positive parenting approaches, and the factors that impact relationships between children, young people and their families. You are able to assess situations, identify solutions and provide responsive, client focused support, including in sensitive or challenging circumstances.
