The Opportunity
An established and growing accounting firm in Bankstown is seeking an experienced Tax Agent to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven tax professional who enjoys working across a diverse client base and wants to be part of a collaborative, high-performing environment.
The Role
In this position, you will take ownership of tax compliance and reporting, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to Australian regulations. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and clients to deliver high-quality tax and accounting services.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and lodgement of individual, company, trust, and partnership tax returns
- Managing tax compliance in line with ATO requirements
- Preparation and analysis of financial statements
- Maintaining accurate accounting records and documentation
- Assisting with tax planning and advisory services
- Liaising with clients to gather financial information and provide support
- Collaborating with the broader accounting team to ensure smooth operations
About You
- Proven experience in a Tax Agent or similar role within public practice
- Strong knowledge of Australian tax legislation and compliance requirements
- Solid understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles
- High attention to detail with strong analytical skills
- Proficient in accounting software (Xero, MYOB, or similar)
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client portfolios
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Registered Tax Agent (or close to obtaining registration)
- Previous experience within an accounting firm is essential
- Experience with not-for-profit or sports clients (advantageous but not essential)
